2011 - Practice Education Committee Accomplishments
Download the 2011 12 Practice Education Highlights
In the Spring of 2011 the Practice Education Committee was renewed and aligned with BC Academic Health Council Board priorities. The new committee structure ensured that current and future strategic activities best support coordinated, sustainable, quality practice education in the provincial context. New terms of reference were established and the strategic plan is being reviewed and updated. Two working groups were formed: the Practice Education Guidelines Working Group (PEG WG) and the Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Practice Working Group (IPE/CP WG). Working from a PEC approved action plan, the PEG WG is updating the practice education guidelines. The IPE/CP WG is establishing an action plan that will be aligned with other strategic priorities in the province around interprofessional education and collaborative practice learning environments.

2010 - 2011 - Interprofessional Collaborative Practice and Learning Environments
The ICP&LE initiative aimed to develop, implement and evaluate innovative and effective interprofessional collaborative practice and learning approaches to healthcare delivery in a variety of practice settings. Throughout the course of the project, it became evident that there was a need for knowledge and supports for promoting and embedding IP collaborative practice at the clinical unit level. Based on the work completed by each of the participating provincial teams a generic site development plan was created to support other organizations to plan, implement and evaluate IP programs for their clinical settings. The website and toolkit provide many resources for learning about and implementing IP collaborative practice environments in healthcare clinical settings. The knowledge, tools, guidelines and links provided within this site were developed and/or utilized by four Canadian Western Provincial teams involved in the ICP&LE initiative. www.icple.com
